# Connect GA4, Search Console or Google Ads to your Data Studio template

Your copy connects to your own accounts through Google’s native Data Studio (formerly Looker Studio) connectors: you authorise each source, pick the property, and the report fills with your data.

## How the connection works

A Data Studio report reads from data sources, and each data source points at one property through a connector. The templates use Google’s own connectors for GA4, Search Console and Google Ads: free, maintained by Google, no third-party service in between. Your data never passes through kodalogic; the connection is between your Google account and your report.

## Connecting each source

1. 01
Open your copy in edit mode and go to Resource, then Manage added data sources. You see one source per connector the template uses.
2. 02
Press Edit on the first one. Data Studio asks you to authorise the connector with your Google account if you have not already.
3. 03
Pick the property or account to read: your GA4 property, your Search Console site, or your Google Ads account. For Search Console choose the Site impression table for site-level pages and the URL impression table for page-level ones, exactly as the template’s sources are named.
4. 04
Press Reconnect, then Done. Data Studio matches the template’s fields to your property; if every field matches, the charts fill on their own. Repeat for each source.

## Access you need before you start

Viewer access, or better, to each property you connect. If a client owns the data, ask them to add your Google account to the GA4 property, the Search Console site and the Google Ads account first. You do not need edit rights on their accounts, only permission to read.

If a field is missing in your property (a custom event, an e-commerce metric you do not track), the chart that uses it shows a configuration notice and the rest of the page works. The doc on empty pages shows how to swap that field for one you have.

## Check

* Each data source under Manage added data sources shows your property, not the demo one.
* The first page shows your numbers for the default date range.
* The account you connected with has at least viewer access to every property.
