# No data or access error in a Data Studio report

An empty Data Studio (formerly Looker Studio) page right after copying is almost always one of four things, in this order: the source still points at the demo property, the date range has no data, a field your account does not have, or Google’s quota for the hour.

1 · Data source

Points at the demo property

Reconnected to yours

2 · Date range

No data in the range

Range widened

3 · Field

Not in your account

Field replaced

4 · Quota

Google’s hourly limit

Cleared after a minute

## Read the symptom first

Every chart points at a data source, and every data source points at one Google account and one property. The shape of the failure tells you which link broke: a whole page empty points at the source or the date range; one chart broken while its neighbours work points at a field; a message about limits points at the quota.

## The four causes, in order of likelihood

1. 01
The source still points at the demo property. Open Resource, then Manage added data sources, and check each one: the connector should show your GA4 property, your Google Ads account or your Search Console site, not ours. Edit, reconnect to your own property, Done. The charts refresh on their own.
2. 02
The date range has no data. A GA4 property created recently, or a Search Console site verified recently, only has data from that day onward. Widen the date picker at the top of the page; if numbers appear for later dates, nothing is broken.
3. 03
A field is missing. One chart shows a configuration notice while the rest of the page works: that chart uses a field your account does not have, usually a conversion event or a custom dimension. Click the chart, open the Setup tab and replace the field with the one you use.
4. 04
Google’s quota is exhausted. A message about the quota limit means the property received more requests than Google allows in that window. It clears by itself. The usual causes are a page with many charts refreshed repeatedly, or a scheduled email running against a property that many people also open. Wait a few minutes; if it repeats, lengthen the data source’s freshness or move the heaviest charts to an extract.

## When a colleague or client sees the error and you do not

That is not a data problem, it is a credentials problem: the report is shared with them but the data source reads with their login, which has no access. Set the source to Owner’s credentials and they see what you see. The doc on sharing with another email walks through it.

## Check

* Every source under Manage added data sources shows your property.
* The date picker covers a period with data.
* No chart shows a configuration notice; the ones that did use a field you have.
