# Share Data Studio report access with another email

Press Share, type the address and choose Viewer or Editor; if that person opens the Data Studio (formerly Looker Studio) report but every chart asks for access, the data sources need Owner’s credentials.

## Giving access

1. 01  
Open your copy and press Share at the top right.
2. 02  
Type the email address and choose Viewer for a client, Editor for a colleague who builds reports with you.

Press Send. They receive an email with the link, and the report appears in their Data Studio home under Shared with me.

## When they can open it but every chart asks for access

Data Studio has two things to share: the report, and each data source behind it. If the report is shared and the data source is not, the person sees the layout and a request for access in every chart.

The fix is on the data source, not on the report. Open Resource, then Manage added data sources, press Edit on each source and set its credentials to Owner’s credentials. The report then reads the data with your login, and anyone you shared it with sees the same numbers you see, without having access to your GA4, Search Console or Google Ads accounts.

## Two ways to share, for two kinds of people

* A client who should never reach the raw data: Viewer access on the report, Owner’s credentials on the sources. They see the finished pages and nothing else.
* A client or colleague who needs their own private copy: Editor access, and they use File, then Make a copy. Their copy connects to their own properties; yours stays untouched.

## Taking access away

Open the same Share dialog, find the address and remove it. Access ends immediately, including any scheduled emails that person had set up from the report.

## Check

* The person sees numbers on the first page, not an access request.
* Their role is the one you intended: Viewer for clients.
* The data sources show Owner’s credentials.
