# Which Data Studio template do I need?

Pick a Data Studio (formerly Looker Studio) template by the report you owe someone: one source (GA4, Search Console or Google Ads) when the report is about one channel, the two-source or all-in-one dashboards when the client wants the whole picture on one link.

The client asks“Everything, monthly, one link per client”

## Start from the deliverable, not from the data

The question is never “which data do I have” but “what does the person reading the report ask for”. A client who asks about rankings and organic traffic is asking for a Search Console report. A client who asks what the ad budget returned is asking for a Google Ads report. A client who asks for one monthly link that covers everything is asking for the all-in-one.

Each single-source template goes further into its channel than the combined ones can: the Search Console dashboard has nineteen pages on keywords alone (brand versus generic, clusters, intent, short and long tail, page rankings); the all-in-one gives the search module twelve pages because it also has to fit web and ads. Depth and breadth are the trade-off, and the price follows it.

## The six, by the question they answer

* Google Analytics 4 dashboard: what visitors do on the site (traffic, engagement, conversions, e-commerce, location).
* Google Search Console dashboard: how the site performs in Google search (keywords, rankings, brand demand, page rankings).
* Google Ads dashboard: what the paid budget returns (campaigns, search and display, keywords, audiences, cost per result).
* Web & SEO performance dashboard (GA4 + Search Console): organic visibility next to what those visitors then do.
* GA4 + Google Ads dashboard: paid traffic next to the behaviour it produces, on the same dates.
* All-in-one marketing dashboard (GA4 + Search Console + Google Ads): the monthly client report, thirty-five pages, one link.

## Two shortcuts

If you report to several clients with different needs, the all-in-one is the template you copy once and trim per client: hide the pages a client does not need instead of buying three templates. Hiding a page takes one click and is reversible.

If you are not sure, open the live demo of the two candidates side by side and click through the pages with a real question in mind. The right template is the one where you find the answer without scrolling.

## Check

* You can name the question the report has to answer for its reader.
* You have opened the live demo of your candidate and found that answer on a page.
* If you serve several clients, you have counted how many need more than one source.
