What is Looker Studio?
Looker Studio was the name of Google’s free reporting and dashboard tool between October 2022 and April 2026, when Google renamed it back to Data Studio. Content that mentions either name refers to the same product.

Why it matters
The rename also applied to the paid tier: Looker Studio Pro became Data Studio Pro. Google’s enterprise BI platform Looker is a separate product. Google announced the change on 16 April 2026, framing it as a return to the name most users never stopped using.
How to read it
For anyone maintaining content, the practical consequence is vocabulary: audiences still search heavily for the Looker Studio name, while Google's own interface now says Data Studio. Pages that mention both names serve both searches and avoid confusing readers who learned the tool under either brand. The free tier remained free through every rename, which is a large part of why the tool dominates marketing reporting against paid BI suites.
In a Data Studio report
Every report, connector and template built under the Looker Studio name continues to work in Data Studio; the rename changed the interface branding, not the product or its URLs. Reports shared with clients kept working through both renames without any migration.
Where to find it in Google
