Change the currency shown in a Data Studio report
The report shows money in the currency of the account it reads; to change the symbol, change the field’s type in the data source, and remember that Data Studio (formerly Looker Studio) labels amounts, it does not convert them.
Where the symbol comes from
Google Ads sends its figures in the account currency and GA4 in the property currency, so a Google Ads account in euros shows euros in the template without any change on your side. The symbol is a formatting type on the field, and the template inherits it from your account when you connect it.
Changing it everywhere at once
- 01
Open Resource, then Manage added data sources, and press Edit on the source that carries the money fields (Google Ads for cost, GA4 for revenue).
- 02
Find the field (Cost, Revenue, CPC) and open its Type. Choose Currency and the currency you want.
- 03
Press Done. Every chart that uses that field follows; you do not touch the charts one by one.
Changing one chart only
Click the chart, open the Style tab on the right, find the metric and change its type there. This overrides the data source for that chart alone, which is useful for a page that a client in another country reads.
Labels, not conversion
Data Studio does not convert amounts, it labels them. A GA4 property in dollars keeps reporting dollars even if you pick the euro symbol. If you need real conversion, set the currency in the Google account itself, or add a calculated field that multiplies the metric by your exchange rate.
Mixed accounts (a Google Ads account in one currency and a GA4 property in another) show each figure in its own currency. The blended pages of the template label each source so the reader knows which one they are looking at.
Check
The symbol on the cost and revenue tiles matches the client’s currency.
Nobody mistook a relabel for a conversion: the amounts are the account’s.
