What is Outranking share?
Outranking share is a Google Ads Auction Insights metric: the percentage of auctions in which your ad ranked higher than a specific competitor's ad, or in which your ad showed and theirs did not. It is reported per competitor for Search and Shopping campaigns.
How often your ad showed above a competitor when you both competed.

Why it matters
It answers a question impression share cannot: not how often you showed, but how often you beat a named rival when you both entered the same auction. A share above 50% means you usually win that head-to-head.
How to read it
The metric only counts auctions both of you entered, so a low outranking share against a big spender can coexist with a healthy impression share. It also moves with bids, ad rank and budget, not with quality alone, which is why it is read together with overlap rate and top-of-page rate rather than on its own.
In a Data Studio report
Auction Insights is not among the standard Google Ads connector fields for Data Studio (formerly Looker Studio), so dashboards usually bring it in from a scheduled Google Ads report or a Google Sheet. It then appears as a competitor table: overlap rate, outranking share, position above rate, per campaign.
Where to find it in Google Ads
Google Ads: Campaigns, then Auction insights (select campaigns or keywords first); the columns are Overlap rate, Outranking share and Position above rate.
