What is Unique keywords?
Unique keywords are the distinct search queries for which a site received at least one impression in a period, each counted once regardless of how many times it appeared. The number measures how wide a site's search visibility is, not how deep.
Each distinct query counts once, however many times it was shown.

Why it matters
Growth in unique keywords usually comes before growth in traffic: a page starts appearing for new queries at low positions, then climbs. Watching the count is a way to see SEO work paying off weeks before clicks move.
How to read it
Search Console anonymises rare queries for privacy, so the count you can export is a floor, not the true total, and the gap is larger for small sites. Compare periods of the same length, and separate new keywords from lost ones: a flat total can hide a full replacement of the query set.
In a Data Studio report
In a Data Studio (formerly Looker Studio) report unique keywords is a scorecard with its trend, and a keyword analysis page that lists new, lost and improved queries between two periods, with the pages that gained or lost them.
Where to find it in Google Search Console
Search Console: Performance, then Search results, then the Queries tab; the row count at the bottom of the table is the unique keyword count for the period.
